The SFA Soccer team defeated Lamar 1-0 on Sunday. Carly Wyatt was able to get on the end of a ball from Jayme Bailey with 17 seconds left as she chipped the keeper and found the back of the net. The goal moved the 'Jacks to 7-0 in conference play with 21 points and three games to go.
Bailey claimed her team-leading 5th assist of the season. She now has seven total goal contributions on the season, just one behind team-leader Colleen Feagins. Wyatt's finish was her second goal for the Lumberjacks, with both strikes being game deciders.
Madeline Talbot was huge today, collecting nine saves and cutting out a few more crosses to keep her 5th clean sheet of the season. Her heroic performance in goal improved her record in net to 9-5-1 with seven straight victories. The nine saves are the most she has tallied since the opening game of the season against TCU (10).
The win was a six-pointer as the Lumberjacks extend their lead of the Southwest division to eight points with three games to go. The team will have a chance to clinch the division on Friday, October 22nd, as it takes on Chicago State on the road at 7:00 p.m.
