After Lamar closed the gap to just six, 21-15, SFA won four of the next six points to close out the 25-17 victory in the frame.
SET TWO
After falling behind by a set, the host Cardinals would ride a .350 hitting percentage and 18 kills to a second set victory, 25-19. Lamar took a 3-1 lead early and extended the lead midway through the set on the strength of an 13-5 run.
SET THREE
The third set saw SFA take an early 6-4 lead, which they then ceded to the hosts after a 4-1 run. SFA took the lead again, albeit for a short while as Lamar tied the set at 15 apiece minutes later. SFA's definitive run came late in the set, as they rattled off eight of the last nine points, capped off by kills from Taya Mitchell and Valeria Rosado, to win the set 25-18.
