Seven Second-Half Goals see Lumberjacks Glide Past Chicago State

The SFA Soccer team took care of business on Sunday afternoon as they took down Chicago State 9-1 on senior day. The nine-goal onslaught was the most in a game for the Lumberjacks since 2011. Colleen Feagins, Teia Haynes and Caylon McMillan all recorded braces while Jayme Bailey picked up a hat-trick of assists.
McMillan opened the scoring off a ball from Carli Arthurs before Arthurs grabbed a goal of her own a few minutes later. Feagins put one into the back of the net early on in the second half. Haynes, Feagins and Beaty all scored within ten minutes of each other to put the game away but the goal's didn't stop there. McMillan, Garza and Haynes each netted between the 83rd and 88th minute marks.
The 'Jacks outshot the Cougars 23-3 (12-2) and aslo struck the crossbar twice. The second half saw SFA record 13 shots and allowed none. The home team also generated dangerous chances off of eight earned corners
Madeline Talbot improved to 7-5-1 and recorded a save and cut out a few important passes while dishing out a few of her own.
The braces move Feagins and Haynes to the top of the Lumberjack goal-scoring chart with four, while Feagin's assist and Bailey's three assists move them to the top of the assists chart, also with four each. Feagins leads the team with 12 points.
The win is the fifth in a row and moves the 'Jacks to 5-0 in conference play. SFA remains five points clear of second placed Lamar in the WAC Southwest division with five games remaining. They have now scored 18 goals in conference play and allowed just three.
The 'Jacks will remain at home as they take on UTRGV on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
