
Ladyjacks Sweep Louisiana Tech to Finish 2-0 in SFA Tournament

The Ladyjacks go 2-0 in the SFA Tournament to improve to 10-2 on the year with a sweep against Louisiana Tech (25-18, 25-15, 25-17). SFA defeated Tarleton yesterday as well, 3-1.
A balanced scoring attack from SFA was prominent in the Saturday morning matchup, with four different Ladyjacks recording eight kills each, respectively (Ariana Pagan, Leah Powell, Payton Cerny and Coco Gillett). Ielan Bradley was active on the outing with seven, and Taya Mitchell adding four. The highest hitting percentage for the Ladyjacks was .385 in Set 2, with a game-high total of 17 kills. Allie Hamsher continued to be a facilitator for her team earning Pilgrim's Player of the Game with 11 assists, 12 digs, and two aces).
SET 1 | It was 12-8 SFA after Lady Techsters timeout, and SFA was able to extend the lead 16- coming out of it. Louisiana Tech hung around kept it a five-point game late (19-14), but SFA scored six points to its opponent's one point to win the set, 25-15. The Ladyjacks finished with a .367 hitting percentage in this set. Cerny opened up the first set with four kills, in addition to Pagan and Mitchell attaining three thus far.
SET 2 | The game was tied 7-7 with Louisiana Tech taking its first lead at 8-7, but the visitor's pushed it to 10-7, with two kills and an ace forcing SFA to call a timeout. SFA tied it 11-11 after the quick meet-up, where Louisiana Tech gained a one-point lead again 12-11 A kill from Bradley kills ties it once again at 12-12, and SFA was able to maintain a 17-14 lead, and eventually take it, 25-18.
SET 3 | The Ladyjacks developed a 14-6 SFA, but the game got as close as 21-15 in the final stages of the game-clinching set for the home team. Leah Powell exploded for five kills in this set, and Madelynn Miller recorded her 15th dig of the morning to help her team run away with the third set, 25-17.
