
Mitchell's Aerial Attack Leads the Way in Sweep of Lamar

NACOGDOCHES, Texas --Taya Mitchell slammed home 11 kills and the SFA volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win (25-13, 25-19, 25-16) over the Cardinals of Lamar on Saturday inside Shelton Gym. The non-conference victory improved SFA's overall record to 4-1 on the season.
Taya's 11 kills on the day off of a hitting percentage of .786 led the Ladyjack offense, while four other Ladyjacks notched at least five kills. Defensively, SFA had two players reach double figures in digs as Ariana Pagan had 16 and Madelynn Miller had 11. Mitchell was also a force at the net in the match, recording five blocks in total.

SET 2 | After their win in the first set, SFA put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-19 victory in set number two. The Ladyjacks grabbed the set powered by a strong performance on the attacking side. SFA registered a .345 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set win. The Ladyjacks ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the second set. The SFA offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | SFA then sealed the sweep with a victory in set number three. The Ladyjacks grabbed control of the set early when the score was 3-2 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-16. SFA ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, nine points, to finish off the set, collecting 15 kills in the process.
