NEW ORLEANS, La. -- A pair of SFA pole vaulters have been named NCAA Division I All-Americans for the indoor track and field season, per a national release on Tuesday afternoon. With the cancellation of the NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships in Albuquerque due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tueday's release awards the entirety of the startlists (post-medical scratches) the status of All-American, independent of "first-team", "second-team" or "honorable mention" distinction. A total of 671 honors were awarded to 119 different institutions as a result.
Kaylee Bizzell and Branson Ellis were set to compete in the women's and men's pole vault, respectively, before the meet was abruptly canceled. Ellis, a sophomore, earns All-American honors for the second consecutive indoor season, while Bizzell earns All-American status for the first time in her career. The honors for Bizzell and Ellis give SFA Track and Field seven NCAA All-Americans in the pole vault over the past three seasons.
