
Wilbur and Anderson Combine for Shutout in SFA's 9-0 Victory Over Texas Southern

ARLINGTON, Texas-- Sophomore Kassidy Wilbur and senior Autumn Anderson combined to throw a shutout on Sunday as the SFA Ladyjacks blanked the Texas Southern Lady Tigers 9-0 in the first of two games played by SFA on the day. The Ladyjacks dropped the second game of the day 9-2 to UMKC to move to 6-3 on the season.
GAME ONE SUMMARY
Wilbur (2-1) started and picked up the win for SFA (6-2), going four shutout innings without giving up a hit, walking one, and striking out nine. Anderson was dealing out of the bullpen as well, going one shutout inning, allowing one hit, walking none and striking out one.
At the plate, the Ladyjacks were paced by freshman Shaylon Govan, who went 2-for-4 on the day with a home run and three RBIs. Freshman Katy Repa put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 2-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. Junior Bryana Novegil also helped out for SFA, putting together two hits in four trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI.
The Ladyjacks took the lead for good in the first, scoring for the first time in the inning. SFA got an RBI single from Govan, scoring sophomore Alex Hedspeth from second base. The Kangaroos expanded their lead to 9-1 before the Ladyjacks offense got back to work, cutting into that lead in the sixth. Freshman Camryn Middlebrook came across to score the lone run of the inning for SFA, which brought the score to 9-2 in favor of the Kangaroos. The Ladyjacks were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
