Men's 8K results | Women's 6K results
STILLWATER, OK -- The SFA cross country teams began the morning in Stillwater, Oklahoma, racing in one of the oldest cross country meets in the nation. By the end of the race, the SFA women had raced to a fifth place finish with 125 points, while the men finished in ninth, with 252 points. The women's 6K race featured 14 teams, including a solid portion of Big 12 conference programs. In the men's 8K race, the Lumberjacks were one of 13 programs in the race.
"Both squads have a lot fo work ahead of them", said SFA head coach Cody Clark. "Freshmen were welcomed into NCAA D1 racing and learned a lot today. Going back to a big block of training and getting ready for end of Novermber-early December with time trials and first indoor meet."
Kelsey Ramirez paced the Ladyjacks with a time of 22:48.7, good for a 25th-place finish among the field. Isabel Borrego finished 36th with a mark of 23:12.9, while teammate Meredith Clayton took 38th with a time of 23:15.7. Christina Hernandez finished in 53rd for the Ladyjacks, narrowly edging out teammate Rachel Tayor (23:36.8) with a time of 23:36.2, while Allyson McCutcheon finished in 60th with a time of 23:46.3. Alexis Antkowiak (23:56.6), Maggie Marshall (24:30.0), Brianna Nolen (24:43.0), Peyton Muntz (25:14.4), Katrina Thoms (25:20.7) and Annie King (25:41.3) rounded out the Ladyjack contingent.
"Excellent day for the ladies placing fifth in a meet that will see Oklahoma State and Iowa State at nationals this year, more than likely. Anytime you beat Big 12 schools its a good day. We were led by Kelsey, followed by Isabel, Meredith, Megan, Christina and walk-on Allyson, who I thought had a tremendous day. They ran well as a group and we placed well as a result."
On the men's side, Parker Jones led the way with a 41st place finish and a time of 25:49.2. Titus Kiplagat followed behind with a time of 26:03.7, while Maxwell Murphy (26:04.0) and Lewis Mills (26:18.2) were not far behind. Michael Urbina (26:32.9), Pedro Flores (26:40.7) and Peyton Pluenneke (26:54.6 were next for the Lumberjacks, respectively, while Ben Murphy (27:22.6) rounded out the Lumberjack roster.
"We were spotty on the men's side today", said Clark. " Real proud of Parker and Max today. Great effort and show their work ethic putting in 85+ miles per week.It was good to mix it up with some Big 12 schools."
