
Lumberjacks Place Second, Ladyjacks Take Third at Southland Conference Championships

HAMMOND, La. -- The SFA cross country teams accorded themselves well at the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships on Sunday morning, as the Lumberjacks took second place and the Ladyjacks, third. The race took place on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana University, and consisted primarily of road running as the event took place days after originally scheduled due to weather.
The Lumberjacks placed second in the 8K race with a total of 102 points. Parker Jones led the Lumberjacks with a time of 24:19.53 and a 13th place finish overall. Lewis Mills finished 15th with a time of 24:35.58, while Michael Urbina (12:56.64) and Max Murphy (24:58.87) took 22nd and 23rd, respectively. Titus Kiplagat rounded out the top five for SFA with a mark of 25:08.39, while Ben Murphy and Garrett Oehlert also ran for SFA, finishing with times of 26:23.76 and 27:15.95. Jones and Mills each earned Southland Conference Third Team honors for their finish in the race.
On the women's side, Kelsey Ramirez recorded a top five finish with a fourth-place finish at 20:54.77, earning First Team All-Conference honors. Rachel Taylor (21:55.09) and Isabel Borrego (22:05.24) finished in 16th and 17th among individuals, respectively, followed by LaSean Davis in 23rd at 22:20.65. Meredith Clayton placed 36th in the women's race with a mark of 22:55.19, while Alexis Antkowiak (42nd-23:06.16) and Maggie Marshall (58th-24:15.97) also ran for SFA.
