Kamal Picks Up Third-Place Finish in Blue Bracket at NWC/Lady Demon Invite

Senior also teams with Ai Noa Fabre to lock up third-place finish in doubles bracket
NATCHITOCHES, La. - Senior Nida Kamal picked up a a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Southeastern Louisiana's Ximena Yanez in the third-place match of the Blue singles bracket to highlight the SFA tennis team's second and final day of competition at the Natchitoches Women's Care/Lady Demon Invitational.
The Ladyajcks' top individual finisher, Kamal was one of four SFA players who emerged as the victor in their singles matches. In the White singles bracket, senior Darinka Tiboldi played to a seventh-place finish by taking down Tyler Junior College's Momoke Yoshimura by a 6-2, 6-1 score.
Senior Armelle Cerdan found herself matched up against Southeastern Louisiana's Teodora Mitrovic in the Black singles bracket fifth-place match and Cerdan was able to defeat Mitrovic to finish fifth in the bracket.
Also playing in the Blue singles bracket, freshman Elena Bleicher locked down a hard-fought 7-6 (3), 2-6, 10-3 triumph over Tyler Junior College competitor Alexia Tashbeva in the seventh-place bout.
In doubles action, the SFA pair of Kamal and Ai Noa Fabre played their way to a third-place finish in the White bracket. After falling to the Louisiana tandem of Picaut and Raguin by a score of 6-3 in their first match of the day, Fabre and Kamal recovered to score a 6-3 win over the Tyler Junior College pair of Yoshimura and Yue in the third-place match.
Over in the Purple doubles bracket, Guilarte and Annie Walker found themselves on the wrong end of a 6-4 score against Tyler Junior College's Chan and Devier. However, SFA's tandem recovered in the seventh-place match and earned a win over the Louisiana tandem of Radovanovic and Perez who retired after falling behind 3-0.
SFA's third and final doubles win of the day came in round robin action where Cerdan and Bleicher defeated Tyler Junior College's Khamula and Tashbeva by a 6-3 tally. That win helped Cerdain and Bleicher go 1-1 in doubles play on the day.
Following a break of almost two weeks, the Ladyjacks will head to Dallas, Texas, for their next action of the fall. SFA heads to SMU on Friday, Sept. 27 to play in the three-day SMU Invitational.
