Ladyjacks Wrap Up Competition at Cardinal Classic on Tuesday

Erica Lautensack posts fifth top-20 finish of season, Alexandra Batista turns in fifth-straight top-25 placement
BEAUMONT, Texas – The SFA women's golf team completed the third and final round of play at the Lamar Cardinal Classic on Tuesday, carding a third round score of 321 to finish seventh overall. Erica Lautensack shot a 8-over 79 to move into a tie for 17th overall among the field of 59 golfers and finish with a 234 (+21). Lautensack accrued 32 pars in the tournament, which ranked 11th overall.
Junior Alexandra Batista also finished within the top 20 golfers, carding a 10-over 81 to close out her three-day score of 238 (+25). Paola Cortes-Ortiz finished just behind Batista in 23rd with a 8-over 79 final round to finish at 239 (+26). Cortes-Ortiz led SFA with four birdies in the tournament.
Senior Jamee Jorgensen moved up into a tie for 42nd overall at 251 (+38), tying her first round score of 82 (+11). Sophomore Kelly Yang (42-over 255) rounded out the Ladyjack lineup with a 11-over 82 on the day.
Texas State would take the Lamar Cardinal Challenge after carding a 30-over 882 score across three rounds of play. Houston Baptist finished 20 strokes back of the Bobcats at 50-over 902, while tournament host Lamar (60-over 912) ended in third place.
The Cardinals' Elodie Chaplet took the individual title with a three-round score 0f 214 (+1), while Texas State's Sasikarn Somboonsup was the runner-up at 217 (+4).

The Ladyjacks will have two weeks off from tournament play before heading to Magnolia, Texas, for the 2019 Southland Conference Championship, held Monday-Wednesday, April 15-17 at the High Meadow Ranch Golf Club.
