SFA earns four of a possible six points in pair of spring matches
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The SFA soccer team posted a pair of sterling outings in spring season play on Sunday, shutting out Southland foe Texas A&M-CC by a 1-0 score before battling to a 1-1 draw with Texas A&M on Sunday. The pair of results earned at Ellis Field in College Station kept SFA unbeaten in spring play, with the Ladyjacks outshooting their opponents 29-14 over that span.
"A good day's work sure", said SFA head coach Wally Crittenden. "As always there are things we can improve upon, but today was a great day as we were able to shape shift three different times against two good opponents. I am really excited to use this experience to build the competitive character needed for the fall. Thanks to Texas A&M for hosting us and for a great event."
The Ladyjacks outshot the Islanders 9-3 in the opening contest, nearly doubling up Texas A&M-CC but for a late save by the AMCC goalkeeper. Sabrina Segovia scored the game winning goal against the Islanders, with Termini nearly finding the back of the net in the contest as well. Against the host Aggies, SFA took the lead in the second half on a goal by Teia Haynes, scored thanks to great high press from Termini.
Up next for the Ladyjacks is a road tilt in Monroe, Louisiana against the Warhawks of Louisiana-Monroe. The Ladyjacks faced the Warhawks last fall in an exhibition contest, winning by a 4-0 margin.
