
SFA Track and Field Wraps Up Competition at Louisiana Classic

LAFAYETTE, La. -- The Stephen F. Austin track and field team finished competition at the Louisiana Classics on Saturday, recording a handful of event wins and numerous top eight finishes. The meet marked the first competition of the outdoor season for the 'Jacks.
SFA EVENT WINNERS
• Kevin Steward took first in the men's shot put with a distance of 16.48m (54-1).
• Dominique Jackson won the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.04.
• The women's 4x400 relay team of Jackson, Cayla Burch, Madison Compass and Aaliyah Teel took first in the event with a time of 3:46.64.
• The men's 4x400 relay team of Antonio Ruiz, Muzuri Mattar, Drake Murphy and A.J Bennett took first in the event with a time of 3:10.67.
SFA TOP EIGHT FINISHES
• Kevin Steward took second in the men's discus with a mark of 53.63m (175-11).
• Riley Cross took third in the women's shot put with a distance of 13.01m (42-8.25)
• Madison Pecot leapt to a second-place finish in the women's pole vault with a height of 4.02m (13-2.25).
• Tyler Stafford took fourth in the men's vault at 4.78m (15-8.25), while Hunter Krc finished sixth at 4.63m (15-2.25).
• Bellodgia Roberson took sixth in the women's discus with a mark of 40.73m (133-7).
• Madison Compass took sixth in women's 1500m run with a time of 4:47.11.
• Jillian Turner took third in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 14.49.
• Sammi Brashears took third in the women's 400m hurdles, while Kinsey Smith took fifth (1:06.24) and Daija Carr finished sixth at 1:06.25.
UP NEXT
SFA will resume competition in the outdoor track and field season next weekend at the Roadrunner Invitational on March 22-23. Following that, the 'Jacks will compete at the annual Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on March 26-30.
