THE OPENING TIP
• Hoping to get back in the Southland Conference win column, the SFA men's basketball team goes gunning for its second league road win of the season Wednesday night in Houston when the 'Jacks do battle with Houston Baptist. Tip-off inside Sharp Gymnasium is set for 7:00 p.m.
• Houston Baptist will provide a live video stream of the game on YouTube with Lonnie King calling the action. For an SFA-centric listening experience, fans can tune into the Learfield/IMG College Lumberjack Sports Network to listen to Rob Meyers narrate the action on Q107.7 FM in Nacogdoches and nationwide on the TuneIn app.
• To say that junior Kevon Harris has been tearing it up lately would be a massive understatement. Harris is averaging a league-best 21 points per game in Southland showdowns and has also been grabbing eight rebounds per Southland game. That makes him one of just two players in the league who rank among the top five in scoring and rebounding in conference-only games.
• After going 8-of-9 from the field in last Saturday's Southland setback at Sam Houston State, Harris also moved up to the top 100 in the nation in terms of field goal percentage. The junior leads the team, ranks fifth in the Southland and 95th nationally with a shooting percentage of .513.
• With a 19-point showing last Saturday night in Huntsville, senior Shannon Bogues has now put in 10 or more points in 21 consecutive games. The Killeen, Texas, needs 112 more points to get to 1,000 in his career and ranks second in the Southland in scoring with his team-leading clip of 17.5 points per game.
• Each of the league's three top scorers will be on the court in Houston Wednesday night. Houston Baptist's Ian DuBose tops the Southland charts with his average of 17.9 points per game while Bogues and Harris rank second and third in the 13-team league respectively.
LAST TIME OUT
• Kevon Harris enjoyed a night of near-perfection from the field, going 8-of-9 en route to a game-high 20 points, but Sam Houston State piled up 58 points in the opening half on the strength of a 69-percent field goal percentage to help the Bearkats claim a 94-72 victory inside Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum last Saturday night.
• Harris went a perfect 3-of-3 from three-point range, upping his career three-point field goal total to 115. That puts the Ellenwood, Ga., product into a tie for eighth place on SFA's all-time three-point field goal charts.
• Additionally, Harris upped his career point total to 1,097 in the loss. That puts him in 25th place on SFA's all-time scoring list.
• Sam Houston State's win snapped the 'Jacks' three-game winning streak against the Bearkats. Each of Sam Houston State's last two wins in the series which dates back to 1925 has taken place on February 2.
• The Bearkats piled up 27 assists on 33 made field goals. Those 27 assists were the most by an SFA opponent this season as was their first-half point total of 58.
• The 'Jacks' 22-point setback was its largest in a Southland Conference game since losing to Lamar by 22 in Beaumont on February 3, 2018.

SCOUTING HOUSTON BAPTIST | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATISTICS
• With seven wins under their belts thus far, the Huskies have exceeded their win total from the 2017-18 campaign by one. Additionally, Houston Baptist's three Southland Conference victories are one more than the team enjoyed all of last season. All but two of those seven total wins have come inside Sharp Gymnasium where the Huskies are 5-3. Each of Houston Baptist's four Southland Conference games inside that facility have been decided by six points or less.
• The Huskies have been exceptional when it comes to crashing the offensive glass this season. Houston Baptist leads the Southland ranks eighth in the nation by pulling down an average of 14.00 offensive rebounds per game.
• A sophomore, Ian DuBose leads the Huskies in both scoring (17.9 ppg) and rebounding (6.1 per game). DuBose has been held under 10 points on just three occasions in 2018-19 - the first coming in the team's season opener at Arizona (four points). Each of the Huskies' last two opponents - Incarnate Word and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi - have succeeded in limiting the damage done by DuBose, too, as he has put in just nine and seven points respectively in those games.
• In addition to the prolific scoring ways of Ian DuBose, the Huskies have been getting major offensive contributions from Edward Hardt. He leads the squad in field goal percentage, having put in 55-percent of his tries thus far in 2018-19 and is averaging 12.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. \
• Now in his final season in a Houston Baptist uniform, senior Braxton Bonds has continued to be known as one of the premier defenders in the Southland - and the nation. Bonds leads the 13-team league in both steals per game (2.35) and total steals (47). On the NCAA Division I men's basketball scene, he ranks 19th in steals per game and 29th in total steals.
COMING UP NEXT
• After an absence of nearly two weeks, the 'Jacks make their return to William R. Johnson Coliseum Saturday afternoon for a Southland Conference showdown against Lamar. Tip-off is set for 4:30 p.m. and prior to tip-off all fans are invited to watch the clash between the SFA women's basketball team and Lamar at 2:00 p.m. A Fan Test tailgate will also be taking place outside the main entrance to the Coliseum beginning at noon that day. Additionally, Saturday's tilt with the Cardinals will serve as Alumni Reunion day for all former Lumberjack and Ladyjack basketball players.
