
SFA Track and Field Notches Several Personal Bests at Opening Day of Charlie Thomas Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The SFA Track and Field opened the Charlie Thomas Invitational in College Station on a high note Friday afternoon, as several athletes set new personal bests. The two-day event will conclude tomorrow.
SFA TOP TEN PERFORMERS
In the 5000m run, Brittany Innis and Claire Crone ran to a fifth and eighth-place finish, respectively. Innis' time of 17:18.19 was a new personal best by 12 seconds, and her and Crone now rank first and third, respectively, in Southland Conference competition.
In the pentathlon, junior Caitlin Lennon finished the pentathlon in fourth place with 3643 points, thanks to a PR best in the 800m (2:19.97) and tying her PR in the hurdles. Teammate Jillian Turner took sixth with a score of 3576, beating her previous PR by 188 points. Her PR came as a result of new best marks in the shot put, long jump and a new best in the 800m by five seconds (2:24.14).
Future Lumberjack Asani Hylton has attributed himself well through the first day of the men's heptathlon, leading the field with 3025 points with the hurdle, pole vault and 1000m still to be completed.
UP NEXT
SFA will finish up competition at the Charlie Thomas on Saturday. After that, the next competition for the 'Jacks will be the Don Kirby Invitational in New Mexico on Feb. 8-9.
