
Ladyjack Claim Second Straight SLC Tournament Championship

Conway, AR -- The SFA volleyball team punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a 3-1 victory (20-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-17) over the Sam Houston State Bearkats Sunday at Prince Center to win their second straight Southland Conference Tournament Championship.
SFA improves to a staggering 31-1 on the season.
The Ladyjacks were led by a double-double from Corin Evans, who registered 14 kills and 12 digs on the day. Xariah Williams also added 12 kills to help the attack. On the defensive end, Madelynn Miller chipped in for SFA with 15 digs to go with six blocks from Taya Mitchell.

SET 1 | The Ladyjacks dropped set one 25-20 in spite of a solid showing on the attacking side. SFA put together a .303 attack percentage with 13 kills in the set loss.
SET 2 | SFA responded to pick up a 25-17 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The Ladyjacks led from the opening point on in the set to secure the victory. SFA opened its biggest lead of the stanza, eight points, to close out the set. The Ladyjacks hit .323 over the course of the set.
SET 3 | SFA built on that second-set success with a victory in set number three to open up a lead at two sets to one. The Ladyjacks the set the third set 25-20. SFA took the lead for good at 18-17 in a set that featured 10 ties and 10 lead changes. SFA's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Sam Houston State attacks in the stanza.
SET 4 | SFA finished off the match with a 25-17 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. A strong performance on the attacking end led the Ladyjacks to victory in the set. SFA put together a .419 attack percentage with 14 kills in the set win. The Ladyjacks ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza. SFA got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Sam Houston State attacks in the stanza and capitalized on 10 Sam Houston State attacking errors on the way to victory.
