
Top Seeded Ladyjacks Sweep No. 8 New Orleans to Open SLC Championship

Conway, AR -- The No. 1 seeded SFA volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win (25-17, 25-23, 25-21) against the No. 8 seeded New Orleans Privateers Friday at Prince Center to open the Southland Conference Championship.
The non-conference victory improved the Ladyjacks' overall record to 29-1 on the season.
Xariah Williams finished with 11 kills on the day to lead the Ladyjacks attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .250. Defensively, SFA had four players reach double figures in digs, highlighted by Madelynn Miller's 16, 13 from Corin Evans, and 12 more from Ariana Pagan.

SET 1 | The Ladyjacks earned a set-one victory 25-17 thanks to a strong performance on the attacking side. SFA registered a .364 attack percentage with 16 kills in the set victory. The Ladyjacks rallied from down five at 5-0 to grab the win.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, SFA put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-23 victory in set number two. The Ladyjacks survived a back-and-forth set to win in a stanza that featured 16 lead changes and was tied 16 times. Neither team led by more than four points along the way.
SET 3 | SFA then finished off the match with a victory in set number three. Impressive serving helped the Ladyjacks win the set 25-21. SFA recorded six aces in the win. After the lead changed hands seven times, the Ladyjacks took control for good at 21-20 and rode that advantage to victory. The SFA offense also got a boost from six aces in the stanza. SFA's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking six New Orleans attacks in the stanza.
