SFA at Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational

Watch
• The defending NCAA national champions open the 2019-20 season by heading west to New Orleans, La., to take part in the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational. The three-day event will take place at Colonial Lanes on the campus of Tulane.
• Last season the Ladyjacks' set up their run to the 2019 national title by securing a runner-up finish at the 2018 Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Invitational. SFA has finished in the top three of the event for each of the last four seasons.
• SFA returns seven bowlers from its 2019 NCAA national championship squad including Carlene Beyer, Megan Eaglehouse, Dakota Faichnie, Sarah Gill, Annie Leihardt.

• In their final race before the Southland Conference Cross Country Championships, SFA travels south to College Station, Texas, to take part in the Arturo Barrios Invitational. SFA is one of 32 institutions from around the country who are heading to the Watts Cross Country Course to take part in the high-profile meet.
• Last season when SFA headed to Texas A&M to take part in this meet, the Ladyjacks notched a 19th-place finish while the men posted a 12th-place showing in the 28-team field. Of the five Southland men's teams at the event, SFA was the only team to finish among the top 15.

• Following their bye week, the 'Jacks jump right back into Southland Conference action this weekend by heading west to Abilene, Texas, to tangle with in-state adversary Abilene Christian at 3:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon.
• SFA will be looking to spoil its second homecoming this season after the 'Jacks' bested Lamar in Beaumont back on Saturday, Sept. 28.
• The 'Jacks have won their last three matchups with Abilene Christian including their last meeting with the Wildcats at Anthony Field at Wildcat Stadium. That game, a 20-10 SFA victory on Sept. 23, 2017, marked the first time the Wildcats lost on their new home turf after opening the venue with a 24-3 win over Houston Baptist on Sept. 16, 2017.
• Both of the 'Jacks' defensive touchdowns this season have come courtesy of interception returns from junior cornerback Eli Jones. Thanks to Jones' play, SFA ranks sixth among all FCS programs in defensive touchdowns.
• SFA is hoping to become the first team this year to defeat Abilene Christian at home, too. The Wildcats are 3-0 when playing at home and 0-4 on the road in 2019.

• The 'Jacks' next two events will take place in the state of Arkansas and that stretch starts this week when SFA takes part in the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State on Monday and Tuesday.
• SFA is one of two Southland Conference teams competing in the 13-team event and is one of two Texas teams at it, too.
• The 'Jacks are looking to post their second top-ten finish of the season and most recently notched a sixth-place finish at the nine-team Bentwater Collegiate in Montgomery, Texas, on Oct. 7-8.
• Junior Steven Fabik has posted top-ten finishes in two of the three events he has taken part in so far this fall including a 10th-place finish at the Bentwater Intercollegiate on Oct. 7-8.

• The Ladyjacks return home following Friday's thrilling 1-0 victory over UCA in Conway to host the final two home matches of the 2019 season this weekend. Friday's match against Nicholls will also double as SFA's Senior Night, when the team will recognize four departing seniors from the program.
• SFA junior Katelyn Termini was the hero on Friday, netting the game winning goal in the game's 68th minute to seal the win for SFA. Termini's goal was the fifth of the season for the Frisco native, tying her for eighth in the league in the category.
• Nicholls has had a tough go in league play, being outscored 26-2 in SLC matches and owning an 0-6 record in said games.
• SFA will face Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday in a 1:00 p.m. tip-off. The Lions are 2-10-1 overall and 1-5 in league play, and come into the matchup having dropped their last two games.
• Termini and goalkeeper Madeline Talbot were both named Honorable Mentions in Southland Conference Player of the Week voting this week. Talbot notched the shutout versus the Bears in Conway, recording a pair of saves and facing 18 shots across the 90 minutes.
• Following this weekend's games, the 'Jacks will play three straight road contests to close out the regular season schedule. The 'Jacks are currently alive in the Southland Conference tournament picture, and could move up in the seeding order with positive results in the final five matches of the season.

• Down to just two fall events remaining on their 2019-20 schedule, the Ladyjacks will travel to College Station, Texas, this week to take part in the ITA Texas Regionals.
• Last season at the ITA Texas Regionals, Kaja Ljubic was SFA's top finisher, posting a consolation bracket semifinal setback.
• SFA will be one of a number of NCAA Division I squads from the state of Texas taking part in the regional meet.
• The Ladyjacks are sending three players to the ITA Texas Regionals - junior Annie Walker and seniors Gabi Guilarte and Darinka Tiboldi.

• Continuing to roll past any Southland Conference foe that gets in its way, the Ladyjacks hammered New Orleans in the Big Easy before returning to Shelton Gym last Saturday for a 3-0 sweep of Abilene Christian.
• Riding an 11-match winning streak, SFA's last nine wins have been by 3-0 scores. That translates to a nation-leading 28-consecutive sets won as SFA prepares to wrap up its longest home stand of the season this week.
• Senior middle blocker Danae Daron has hit .600 or better in her last four matches, hiking her Southland-best attack percentage to .412 in the process. That ranks 24th among all NCAA Division I volleyball players.
• In the latest edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division I Coaches' Poll, SFA continued its rise up the ranks by amassing 23 votes in Monday's poll. That's the highest number of votes SFA has gathered up in the history of the program and that total puts SFA at 29th nationally.
• In the state of Texas, Baylor, Rice and SFA are the only three NCAA Division I volleyball teams who have not lost a set in league play. Additionally, all three of them are either ranked (Baylor is first, Rice is 19th) or receiving votes (SFA is receiving 23) in the AVCA NCAA Division I Coaches Poll.
• SFA's defense continues to put up numbers that are among the best in the nation. The Ladyjacks lead the Southland in no fewer than six statistical categories and rank seventh nationally in opponent hitting percentage (.141), 10th in blocks per set (2.88), 12th in total blocks (187) and 16th in digs per set (17.45).
• Junior middle blocker Taya Mitchell ranks second in the nation with 1.63 blocks per set and her 106 total blocks are the third-most on the NCAA Division I volleyball scene, too.
