Draw is second in as many seasons for SFA at Jack Dugan Stadium
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin women's soccer team outshot, outworked and our-possessed the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders on Sunday, but were unable to net a goal and settled instead for a 0-0 draw after 110 minutes of play. The draw moves SFA to 3-4-1 on the season and 1-1-1 in Southland Conference play.
"So impressed with our team today", said SFA head coach Wally Crittenden. "We had a strong identity and really high competitive character from the very beginning. Tactical flexibility has always been a strength of our program and our kids rose to the demands again. Its unfortunate we left two points on the table, but to take four out of a possible nine, all on the road, sets up great games this weekend. We return home a better team and I can't wait to watch our kids play on Friday."
The Ladyjacks created sizeable advantages in shots (24-8), shots on goal (6-3) and corner kicks (6-2), but will leave Corpus Christi with one point to show for the effort.
Carli Arthurs notched five shots on the day to lead the Ladyjacks. Breanna Moore and Sophia Fondren each tallied three shots as well, with Moore notching two on goal and Fondren putting one on frame. Katelyn Termini posted four shots in the contest as well.
Madeline Talbot faced eight shots in total and made three saves, as the redshirt freshman notched her second shutout of the season.
