
Ladyjacks Head to Houston to Begin Fall Season at Rice Invitational

SFA begins play at 9:00 a.m. Friday in doubles action
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - In its opening weekend of the fall season, the SFA women's tennis team heads south to Rice University where the Ladyjacks will be one of 15 NCAA Division I squads competing at the 2018 Rice Invitational.
The action is set to begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning from the George R. Brown Tennis Center with doubles play kicking off the three-day event. Singles competition will follow beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday.
SFA joins player from Alabama, Houston, Oklahoma, Maryland, McNeese, North Texas, Northwestern State, Sam Houston State, SMU, South Florida, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas State, UT-Arlington and UTSA who will be taking part in the three-day fall tournament.
In doubles action, Gabi Guilarte and Darinka Tiboldi are set to face off against the South Florida tandem of Amelie Boy and Ana Roman Dominguez while Armelle Cerdan and Kaja Ljubic battle North Texas' pairing of Ivana Babic and Haruka Sasaki. The Ladyjacks' final doubles team consists of Kyndall Misak and Vera Carvalho and they will take on Sille Tranberg from North Texas and McNeese's Sofia San Jose Moreno.
Under the direction of first-year head coach Erin Scott, the Ladyjacks are looking to build on a 2018 campaign that saw them narrowly miss out on a spot in the Southland Conference Tournament.
