TCU grad will work exclusively with men's basketball
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - In an announcement made Tuesday, SFA athletics announced the addition of Cody Dukquits to its strength & conditioning staff. Dukquits will work exclusively with men's basketball.
"This is a difference-making move for our program," remarked SFA head men's basketball coach Kyle Keller. "Cody is an expert in his field, has a high energy level and will serve our players extremely well on a daily basis.
Dukquits comes to Nacogdoches following a two-year run on the strength & conditioning staff at Georgia Southern. Hired in March of 2016, Dukquits worked with men's basketball, women's basketball, men's soccer, women's soccer and football for the Statesboro, Ga., institution.
Prior to his time on staff at Georgia Southern, he worked as an intern on Darby Rich's streugth & conditioning staff at Texas A&M. Specifically, Dukquits worked alongside the Aggies' men's basketball squad.
"By the sheer amount of time he will spend with our team as well as his professional knowledge and experience in the areas of muscle movement, conditioning and dietetics I know we have added a great young man and his family to our program," Keller continued.
In College Station, Dukquits was a part of the men's basketball team that won an SEC Championship in 2016 and made it to the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament, capping off a historic season in which Texas A&M had a record number of regular-season wins as well as being one of only four teams in school history to reach the Sweet Sixteen in the NCAA Tournament.
Dukquits received his Bachelors of Science in movement science at Texas Christian University before arriving at Texas A&M, where received his master's in sports physiology.
Dukquits is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and CPR/AED. He married his wife, Melissa, in December of 2014 and the couple are proud parents of a baby boy, Barrett.
