
Kamal Earns All-Southland Conference Second Team Singles Recognition

Sophomore closed out singles play in 2018 with back-to-back wins

FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin women's tennis sophomore Nida Kamal was named an All-Southland Conference Second Team Singles player it was announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon when it unveiled its list of major award winners and All-Southland Conference teams.
A product of Mumbai, India, Kamal was the only Ladyjack to appear on the league's various All-Conference teams with her All-Southland Conference Second Team selection in the number six singles slot.
After spending the 2017 season at Big South institution Winthrop, Kamal transferred to SFA and became an important part of the Ladyjacks' lineup in both singles and doubles action. Kamal finished her first season in SFA colors with a 6-10 showing in singles matches that included a 5-5 record in Southland Conference singles action. Kamal ended her 2018 campaign by winning each of her last two singles bouts.
In doubles play, Kamal went 6-10 and 3-7 in Southland Conference play for the Ladyjacks who posted a 4-17 overall. SFA went 2-9 against Southland foes and finished the season in a tie for 10th place in the league standings.
