
Women’s Golf Set to Play in Little Rock/A-State Invitational Monday and Tuesday

Ladyjacks compete in a tournament for second consecutive week, take on 10-team field during second trip of season to Arkansas
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – For the second time of the 2017-18 Stephen F. Austin women's golf season the Ladyjacks will be making the trek to the Natural State, this time for the 2018 Little Rock/A-State Invitational held Monday and Tuesday, March 26-27. The two-day, 54-hole tournament will take place at the Maumelle Country Club in Maumelle, Arkansas, and features two rounds of play Monday followed by the third and final round Tuesday.
A total of 10 teams will converge on the par-72, 6,136-yard course, including fellow Southland Conference member Houston Baptist. In addition to co-hosts Little Rock and Arkansas State, the tournament field is comprised of Alcorn State, Evansville, Jacksonville State, Northern Illinois, UT Arlington and UTEP.
Both days of play will get underway with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start as SFA has been paired with Houston Baptist and Evansville for the opening two rounds Monday. Redshirt junior Erica Lautensack (Arlington, Texas), sophomore Alexandra Batista (Trophy Club, Texas), redshirt junior Jamee Jorgensen (Boerne, Texas), freshman Alexis Szewczyk (McKinney, Texas) and sophomore Paola Cortes (Allen, Texas) will tee off of holes 5-9, respectively, for both the first and second rounds of the event.
The Ladyjacks are making their second appearance in the Little Rock/A-State Invitational after tying for fifth among 15 total teams in the 2015 version of the tournament. SFA shot a three-round total of 57-over 921 and had a top-five finisher in Jessica White.
Competing for the second consecutive week, the Ladyjacks placed fifth out of seven teams this past week as SFA co-hosted the ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational at the Trophy Club Country Club in Trophy Club, Texas. The Ladyjacks shot a 91-over 955 and had three golfers place within the top 15 in Lautensack (13-over 229), Batista (20-over 236) and Jorgensen (21-over 237).

The Ladyjacks will wrap up regular-season play Monday, April 9 when SFA travels to Beaumont, Texas, to take on the Lamar Cardinal Match Play Challenge held at the Beaumont Country Club.
