Ladyjacks Complete ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational with Fifth-Place Finish

SFA shoots a 24-over 312 in third round, posts three-day score of 91-over 955 with three top-15 finishers
TROPHY CLUB, Texas – For the second consecutive day the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team improved its 18-hole score at the at the Trophy Club Country Club in Trophy Club, Texas, shooting a 24-over 312 in the third and final round of the 2018 ORU/SFA Spring Break Invitational. The Ladyjacks completed the third annual tournament co-hosted by SFA and Oral Roberts University Wednesday afternoon with a three-round total of 91-over 955, finishing fifth among seven teams.
Three different SFA golfers posted top-15 finishes, led by redshirt junior Erica Lautensack (Arlington, Texas) who grabbed her second top-10 placement of 2017-18 with a sixth-place showing. Lautensack shot a 4-over 76 in the final round to finish with a three-day score of 13-over 229, just four strokes off of tournament champion Kennedy Ishee of Oral Roberts (9-over 225).
Sophomore Alexandra Batista, a native of Trophy Club, tied for 11th among 44 total golfers for her third top-12 finish of the season. She registered a 7-over 79 on the par-72, 6,200-yard Whitworth course Wednesday to own a three-round total of 20-over 236. Meanwhile, redshirt junior Jamee Jorgensen (Boerne, Texas) notched a 4-over 76 for the second-straight round, finishing with a cumulative score of 21-over 237. Tying for 13th place it is Jorgensen's third top-20 finish this school year.
Improving her second-round tally by six strokes, freshman Alexis Szewczyk (McKinney, Texas) shot a 9-over 81 in the final round to place 38th with a three-round score of 37-over 253. Likewise, sophomore Paola Cortes (Allen, Texas) improved her second-round score by five strokes, shooting a 10-over 82 in the third round to finish the tournament tied for 39th with a 38-over 254.
Individual competitors freshman Kelly Yang (Sugar Land, Texas) and senior Zoey Daneshfar (Trophy Club, Texas) both shot a 15-over 87 Wednesday, placing 42nd and 43rd, respectively, with three-round tallies of 45-over 261 and 48-over 264.
Northern Iowa captured the team title by 22 strokes, shooting an 11-over 299 for the final round and finishing with a three-day score of 58-over 922. UT Arlington took home runner-up honors after shooting an 80-over 944 across the three days, while co-host Oral Roberts placed third with an 83-over 947.
Oral Roberts' Kennedy Ishee won the individual title with a three-round mark of 9-over 225 as Northern Iowa's Paige VanDyk recorded an even-par 72 in the final round to earn runner-up honors with a final tally of 10-over 226. Baylor's individual competitor Laila Hrindova finished third after also shooting an even-par 72 Wednesday and completing the tournament with an 11-over 227.

The Ladyjacks will travel to the Natural State for the second time in 2017-18 next week for the Little Rock/ASU Invitational held Monday and Tuesday, March 26-27 in Maumelle, Arkansas, at the Maumelle Country Club.
