THE FIRST SERVE
• In their final home match of February, the Stephen F. Austin tennis team welcomes NCAA Division II adversary Northeastern State to the Schlief Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 2:00 p.m.
• SFA is in search of its first victory of 2018 and seeks to snap a five-match losing streak when the RiverHawks come to town.
• Siân Payne and Darinka Tiboldi each have one of the Ladyjacks' two singles wins this season. When teamed with Gabi Guilarte in doubles action, Payne has posted a 2-0 record. That pair has posted two of the Ladyjacks' three doubles wins.
SCOUTING NORTHEASTERN STATE | ROSTER | SCHEDULE | STATISTICS
• Winners of each of its last two matches, Northeastern State will be gunning for its second-straight triumph over an NCAA Division I adversary Sunday afternoon. Last Saturday, the RiverHawks headed to Springfield, Mo., and bested Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) for Missouri State 5-2.
• Six of the RiverHawks 12 singles victories this season have come courtesy of Mayra Jovic and Molly Worden. The former has gone 3-0 on the number-three line while the latter is 3-0 in the number two slot. Last season, Worden was named an All-MIAA First Team Doubles performer.
• After earned All-MIAA First Team Singles laurels while competing in the sixth slot a season ago, Betka Gombarova has moved up to the number-four line and won two of the three matches she has played there. Tatjana Stoll, the RiverHawks' number-one singles competitor, is also 2-1.
• Doubles has been a mixed bag for the RiverHawks who are just 5-4 in nine total tandem matches. The duos of Stoll and Easton Parker and Chantal Nosievici and Karla Tomaic are the only ones who have not suffered a loss as both are 1-0.
• A tennis powerhouse in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, the RiverHawks have won each of the last four MIAA regular season titles and have advanced to the round of 16 in the NCAA Division II every year since 2013.
COMING UP NEXT
• SFA closes out its five-match February non-conference slate on the road with a pair of matchups outside the state of Texas. The first of those two showdowns sends the Ladyjacks to Oxford, Miss., for a Saturday showdown with Ole Miss at noon. Following that, SFA heads to Memphis, Tenn., to do battle with Memphis at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday (Feb. 25).
