BEAUMONT, Texas — The Stephen F. Austin women's soccer team is peaking at the right time heading into a Southland Conference Tournament semifinal match against Lamar on Friday. The late season run by the Ladyjacks (6-8-3 overall) not only secured the program's 15th straight conference tournament appearance, it also led them to an opening round upset of the second seed, Houston Baptist.
Now, the 'Jacks have put themselves into a position where they can avenge a title game loss to Lamar last season when they face the Cardinals (12-5-1) on Friday in Beaumont. The Cardinals moved on to the semifinal by defeating sixth-seeded Southeastern Louisiana 3-2 on Wednesday.
The game will be streamed free of charge by the Southland Digital Network, with live stats also provided by the conference office. Both of those links can be found at the top of this page as well as on the SFA Soccer schedule page at sfajacks.com. Kickoff is tentatively schedule for 7:00 p.m. CST but is subject to change based on the length of the other semifinal match happening prior to the nightcap.
As SFA looks to advance to a third straight SLC Tournament title, it's the Cardinals who stand in the way of that goal, forcing the second matchup between the two teams. The first came earlier this season, when the Cardinals caught a fortunate break and scored with two seconds left in the second overtime period to steal a 3-2 victory in Nacogdoches. Lamar is in its third season under head coach Steve Holeman, who has compiled a 32-23-5 record at the helm of the Cardinals. The Cardinals have scored 38 goals this season, with four players having scored six or more goals on the year.
For SFA, the offense has been revitalized since a midseason shift in tactics and personnel shifting, with the Ladyjacks tripling their goal output from the first half of the season in the second half. Key playmakers Katelyn Termini, Breanna Moore and Sophia Fondren have gotten into rhythm on the offensive end, with the latter leading the team in points, with 10. The 'Jacks have outscored their opponents 8-2 in the past four contests, allowing just one goal in regulation during that time and picking up three wins.

REVENGE IS A DISH BEST SERVED COLD
SFA's win over HBU on Wednesday night avenges a pair of 1-0 losses to the Huskies in the past two seasons, including a 1-0 decision in the 2016 tournament title game.
TERMINI CALLS GAME
Sophomore KATELYN TERMINI netted the game-winner in Wednesday night's quarterfinal win against HBU in the 88th minute, and all three of her goals this season are game-winning tallies.
AND THEN THERE WERE FOUR
Of the eight teams that qualified for the 2018 Southland Conference Tournament, only four remain (#7 SFA, #5 ACU, #3 Lamar and #1 UCA).
SAVE A SPOT FOR US
The Ladyjacks ventured into the 2018 Southland Conference Tournament as the seventh seed, marking the 15th straight tournament appearance for the team.
THOU SHALL NOT SCORE
The Ladyjacks notched a shutout in the victory over Houston Baptist, and now have 25 such wins out of the 39 wins accrued during the past three seasons.
A SOUTHLAND TOURNAMENT FIRST
SFA's win over second-seed Houston Baptist marked the first time in Southland Tournament history that a seven seed has knocked off a second seed.
SFA IN THE SLC TOURNAMENT
SFA is now 14-12-5 all-time in Southland Conference Tournament games, stretching across 20 appearances in the tourney.
