NACOGDOCHES, Texas – One of the longest running streaks in the Southland Conference continues on Wednesday when the SFA soccer team plays in its 15thstraight Southland Conference Tournament. The seventh-seeded Ladyjacks will be in unfamiliar territory as the lower seed in Wednesday's quarterfinal matchup with two seed Houston Baptist at 5:00 p.m. in Beaumont, Texas, the host location for this year's tournament.
The quarterfinal and semifinal rounds of the tournament will be streamed live on the Southland Digital Network, with the final being shown on ESPN+ on Sunday. Live stats are available via the link above or at the tournament homepage at Southland.org.
The Ladyjacks (5-8-3, 3-5-3 SLC) took care of business in the season finale verus Sam Houston State to enter the tournament, hanging a season-high five goals on the Bearkats in a high-energy affair at SFA Soccer Field. The game was just the latest example of an upswing in the collective team performance of SFA in the latter half of the 2018 season, with the turning point coming after a road loss to HBU on September 21. That included wins in two of their final three games via a 7-1 scoring margin.
Led by Southland All-Conference Second Team midfielder Sophia Fondren in goals (4), points (10) and assist (t-2), the 'Jacks have overcome a slow start to the season offensively and nearly tripled their goal output over the second half of the campaign. Senior Breanna Moore (seven points) and sophomore Katelyn Termini (six points) are close behind, and form the basis of new and improved SFA attack, which includes a new, more dynamic formation.
The Huskies represent a dangerous and skilled opponent, with several All-Conference performers anchoring the team. Alanis Guevara has proved to be one of the more consistent goalkeepers between the sticks, and Baylii Bieke and Megan Rickert are two conference honorees that help head off attacks before they can even get to Guevara. Up top, forward Sabriah Spencer leads the way with five goals and five assists for the Huskies, while Gabby Rodriguez has 11 points in the 2018 campaign.
While Wednesday's contest is the 15thstraight appearance in the conference tournament for the 'Jacks, it is the 20thappearance overall, with the 'Jacks owning a 13-12-5 record in those contests and having won three tournament titles. It will mark SFA's first appearance in the tournament as a lower seed than fourth, and first as the seventh seed in what will be just the second season with an expanded eight-team field.

WHAT SOPHOMORE SLUMP?
Sophomore midfielder SOPHIA FONDREN has accrued a total of 10 points in her second season for the Ladyjacks, chipping in four goals and two assists. Fondren was named an All-Conference Second Team selection for her efforts.
THOU SHALL NOT SCORE
The Ladyjacks notched a shutout win over the Bearkats on Friday, and have 24 such wins in the 38 wins accrued during the past three seasons.
IT'S A BREEZE
BREANNA "BREEZY" MOORE led the way for SFA on Friday, scoring a pair of goals on her senior night to stake SFA out to an early lead in the 5-0 victory.
DARK HORSE POTENTIAL
SFA enters the conference tournament as the seventh seed for the first time in program history after the conference expanded the tournament field to eight teams for the first time last season.
THE FRESHMAN CONNECTION
Freshmen TEIA HAYNES and RYKA SHEA connected for their first career points in Friday's win over Sam Houston State, as Shea slipped a pass to Haynes for a Ladyjack goal.
