Friday's Match with Texas Southern Canceled Due to Inclement Weather

The match will not be made up at a later date
NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The Stephen F. Austin women's soccer team's home opener against Texas Southern on Friday has been canceled with no plans to reschedule for a later date, as severe weather and flooding in the Houston area forced the calling of the match. Despite the match taking place in Nacogdoches, Texas Southern has been without access to their campus due to the flooding and weather in the area, making the soccer match a secondary concern for the student-athletes and teams. Friday's match becomes the latest athletic event to be rescheduled or canceled in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, and the first such event for SFA.
Friday's match was already planned for a different venue in the wake of heavy rainfall that has fallen around Nacogdoches in the last several days and made the SFA Soccer Field unplayable. The match against Texas Southern was supposed to take place on the turf field of Nacogdoches High School instead, a venue which is likely to host the Ladyjacks in Sunday's contest versus Texas State. That match is still set to take place, beginning with a 1:00 p.m. kickoff. A full match preview will be available later this week on sfajacks.com, and fans are encouraged to follow Ladyjacks soccer on Twitter (@SFA_Soccer) and facebook (SFA Soccer) for more information.
The Stephen F. Austin women's soccer team is keeping all the victims and people affected by Hurricane Harvey in their thoughts and minds, including numerous SFA student-athletes who hail from affected areas.
