Fan-voting competition for $100,000 grand prize begins Jan. 1, 2018
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - For the second time in as many seasons, Stephen F. Austin head men's basketball coach Kyle Keller has been chosen to participate in the Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge. The 'Jacks' second-year bench boss aims to capture the 2018 Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge's $100,000 grand prize for his chosen charity - the Nacogdoches Area United Way.
Keller is one of 48 NCAA Division I men's basketball coaches from around the nation who will be taking part in the challenge. The program, sponsored by luxury automobile manufacturer Infiniti, in partnership with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the NCAA and ESPN, is in its eighth season and benefits each coaches' favorite charity. Infiniti will donate at least $1,000 to each participating coach, and will award $100,000 to the coach who receives the most fan votes over a 10-week period that ends on March 10.
The competition, which begins on Monday, January 1, 2018, is fueled entirely by fan voting. Once the Charity Challenge officially commences, all fans are encouraged to vote once per day by accessing VoteForCoachK.com. By accessing that site, participants will be directed to the official webpage for the 2018 Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge where they can cast their vote for Keller. In order to help facilitate the daily voting process, fans will also have the option to sign up for daily voting reminders on their mobile device by texting VoteForCoachK to 48421.
All information date and time cutoffs for each voting round will be released on SFAJacks.com and on all of the 'Jacks' social media channels once they are made available on January 1.
The 2018 edition of the Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge marks the fourth consecutive season in which Stephen F. Austin has been chosen to participate. Over the past three years of the Challenge, the Nacogdoches area United Way has received $35,000 from the results of the competition.
"On behalf of the Nacogdoches Area United Way, we are very excited and honored to continue serving as coach Keller's charity for the Infiniti Coaches' Charity Challenge," said Gary Lee Ashcraft, executive director of the Nacogdoches Area United Way. "With three top-ten finishes in this event in the last three years, we truly believe we have the ability to win it in 2018 and distribute the funds to areas where they would make the largest impact on the Nacogdoches community."
