
Men’s Cross Country Places 16th, Women Finish in 17th at NCAA South Central Regional

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin men's and women's cross country teams both finished just outside the top 15 at the NCAA South Central Regional in College Station , Texas on Friday. The men's team finished in 16th with a grand total of 367 points, while the women's squad totaled 413 points to finish in 17th on the team leaderboard.
Erik Rotich paced the men's steam for SFA in the 10k race, finishing 58th overall with a time of 31:49. Evan Barron followed with a 65th place finish and a time of 31:55, with freshman Caleb Pickett hot on his heels at 70th overall (32:04). Quinlin McGregor ended the race in 85th place with a time of 32:18, while, Larry Deramus finished in 32:30 and 101st place overall and freshman Jeremy Rich finished in 119th with a time of 33:00 flat. Pedro Flores (130th, 33:22) rounded out the scoring on the men's side.
On the women's side, senior Brittany Innis raced to a time of 21:21 and a 47th place finish to lead her squad. Classmate Courtney High finished 58th overall with a time of 21:32, followed by freshman Christina Hernandez, who end up in 70th place with a time of 21:42. Further down the line was freshman Elizabeth Guerra, who came in at 125th overall with a time of 22:43, and classmate Kelsey Ramirez, who finished two seconds behind at 22:45 and 128th overall. Claire Crone rounded out the lineup with a finish at 142nd and a time of 23:11.
"Our freshmen ran well on the women's side, so that was nice to see", said SFA cross country coach Cody Clark." This was good experience for all of our runners, but we're going to have to go back to the drawing board, train with a lot of volume and get ready for the indoor track season coming up."
