Getting to know Jamee Jorgensen
Jorgensen, a native of Boerne, Texas (Champion H.S.), returned to the links for competition this year after being forced to redshirt in 2016-17 due to recovering from a back injury. In her first two years as a Ladyjack, Jorgensen posted four top-20 finishes and averaged a score of 80.94 in 33 total rounds played. Jorgensen is coming off of a good showing at the Mark Allen ORU Shootout where she tied for 19th out of 89 total competitors with a three-round score of 13-over 229.
Why did you choose to come and play at SFA?
"I chose to come to SFA because of the campus size, the coaches and my future teammates. I was excited that classes would be small enough to know my professors and my peers. The coaching staff was energetic and inspiring, and I felt I would connect with them. My teammates were excited to meet me and I knew I would have them as a solid group of girls to not only call teammates, but also my friends."
Who is the most influential person in your life, and why?
"My dad is without question the most influential person in my life. He inspires and motivates me to not only be the best golfer I can be, but to be the best person, friend and teammate possible. When I am struggling, I know I can call him to find stability, comfort, and guidance."
What are your top three to five values in life?
"The most important values in my life have to be honesty, communication, empathy and hard work. Honesty is a major key to success because it holds yourself accountable, but also allows for others to know what is going on in your life. I believe communication and empathy go hand in hand because people will not know what you are dealing with if you do not explain, and it is important to be understanding when others are struggling. I believe hard work is without question one of the best values a person can have. I believe you can persevere through anything with drive and dedication."
What is your best life lesson learned in college and/or golf?
"The best life lesson I have learned in college is sometimes things get out of hand, but it is all about how you handle it."
What is your dream job that is not practical?
"My dream job that is not practical would be a coffee taster. I would love to travel the world and taste coffee from all over."
Who would play you in a movie/TV series?
"I don't keep up with actors and actresses, so I don't really know who would act as me in a movie/TV series."
What is your biggest fear? Is there a story behind it?
"My biggest fear would have to be heights. Ironically, my family loves to go hiking and every time I attempt to go with them it turns into a dramatic experience for me."
What is one thing that no one knows about Erica?
"One thing no one knows about me is that I am a Pinterest fanatic. I love finding recipes that I'll more than likely never cook, cute clothes I'll never buy, and home décor I will never find in person. I think of it as window shopping to the extreme, but would love to someday live the life I have on Pinterest."
