Ladyjacks Third Through Two Rounds of Sam Houston State’s Bearkat Invitational

With a two-round score of 35-over 603, SFA sits in third place at Sam Houston State’s Bearkat Invitational as sophomore Alexandra Batista is tied for ninth to lead the Ladyjacks
HUNTSVILLE, Texas – After two full rounds of play at Sam Houston State's Bearkat Invitational in Huntsville, Texas, Monday, the Stephen F. Austin women's golf team sits in third place as a team with a score of 35-over 603. Despite holding steady in third place on the leaderboard, the Ladyjacks improved their score by five strokes between the two rounds, tallying a 21-over 305 in the morning's round followed by a 14-over 298 Monday afternoon.
Houston Baptist holds a one stroke lead in the invitational with a two-round score of 23-over 591, while host Sam Houston State is in second place with a 24-over 592. SFA sits 12 strokes off of the lead on the par-71 course at the Raven Nest Golf Club.
Sophomore Alexandra Batista (Trophy Club, Texas) leads the Ladyjacks as she is in a four-way tie for ninth with a two-round score of 7-over 149. She shot a 4-over 75 Monday morning but recorded a 3-over 74 in round two. Redshirt junior Jamee Jorgensen (Boerne, Texas) rose 17 spots on the leaderboard after improving her score by nine strokes between the morning and the afternoon. In 13th place with a 9-over 151, Jorgensen tallied a 9-over 71 in the opening round before shooting an even par in the second round.
Sophomore Haleigh Jordan (San Antonio, Texas) is tied for 14th with a day one total of 10-over 152, while redshirt junior Erica Lautensack (Arlington, Texas) sits in 24th place on the leaderboard with a two-round score of 12-over 154. In 27th place is individual competitor Paola Cortes (Allen, Texas), who registered a 4-over 75 in round two and owns a day total of 14-over 156. True freshman Alexis Szewczyk (McKinney, Texas) posted a 16-over 158 Monday and stands tied for 33rd on the leaderboard.
A tie for first place between Sam Houston State's Jenna Phillips and Houston Baptist's Lexi Brooks, both who finished with day one totals of 1-over 143, is followed by the Bearkats' Hanna Alberto, who sits in third with a two-round score of 2-over 144.
SFA will tee off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. once again Tuesday. The Ladyjacks are paired with leader Houston Baptist and Sam Houston State, and will tee off from holes one through four.
