NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack trio of midfielder Hanna Barker, forward Breanna Moore, and defender Brooke Dunnigan, have been named to the 2016 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region Teams. Barker was selected for All-Region First Team, and Dunnigan and Moore were chosen for Second Team honors, the NSCAA announced on Tuesday.
The All-Region honor is the second for Dunnigan, as she was awarded a place on the All-Region Third Team in 2015. This is the first All-Region selection for Barker and Moore. All three were also named for Southland All-Conference and All-Tournament teams.
Barker, a two time All-SLC selection and the 2016 Midfielder of the Year, enjoyed a tremendous year becoming the team’s leading goal scorer with a career high 10 goals on the season. The junior from Farmer’s Branch is ranked 25th in the NCAA for game-winning goals (5) and 36th for total points this season (30). She also led the Southland conference in assists (10) and assist per game (0.56), was second in points per game (1.67), and ranked third in total goals (10/.56).
Moore, a native of Kingwood, Texas, helped boost the Ladyjacks to finishing 12th in the nation for scoring offense and 31st in total goals. Moore had a breakout sophomore year that included nine goals, a career high, and 20 shots, with 14 of those on goal.
On the defensive side of the field, Dunnigan, a three time First Team All-SLC selection from Round Rock, Texas, anchored the backline of the toughest defense in the conference, who garnered seven shut-outs this season. The Ladyjacks gave up the second fewest goals in the conference with 20 goals allowed and 1.10 goals against average. Dunngian also tacked on her first career goal this season and three assists.
The 13-time conference champions finished 13-5 on the season after making it to the Southland Tournament Championship round. Under the direction of Head Coach Wally Crittenden, the Ladyjakcs are looking forward to another tremendous year in 2017.
