SFA begins Conference Tournament against McNeese

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- The sixteen games of the regular season are in the rear view mirror for the Ladyjacks as they start tournament play with a clean board. Stephen F. Austin will take on the McNeese Cowgirls in the semifinals of the Southland Conference Tournament in Corpus Christi.
The Ladyjacks wrapped up the regular season in second place with a 12-4-0 overall record and 9-2-0 in conference record. Junior Hanna Barker, Southland Midfielder of the Year, led the Ladyjacks team with nine goals on the season from 44 shots. Senior Lillie Ehlert has a 12-3 record in the net for SFA, and has garnered 62 saves. The Ladyjack defense led by senior Brooke Dunnigan and senior Kelly Ann Craig finished second in the conference for goals against average (0.88). SFA's attacking offense was ranked 15th nationally for their 38 goals on the season from 12 different Ladyajcks.
This will be the 35th time that the Cowgirls and Ladyjacks have squared off. Earlier in the season, the Ladyajcks took a 2-0 win against the Cowgirls in Nacogdoches. The rout was determined by sophomore Breanna Moore's goal in the 65th minute corner kick.
The McNeese Cowgirls won their first round of the Southland Tournament last Wednesday against Northwestern State. The game went into overtime before the Cowgirls knocked off Northwestern in the 93rd minute. The Cowgirls are 9-9-1 overall and 4-6-1 in conference.
The two teams will meet up on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in Corpus Christi. The game will be live streamed on the SouthlandDigitalNetwork.com while fans can catch the action via Twitter following @SFA_Soccer.
