Pan Am Games Pole Vault Final - Schedule/Results
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin’s Demi Payne will take to the international track and field stage on Thursday evening as the junior pole vault star will compete at the Pan American Games in Toronto, Ontario.
Payne, a native of New Braunfels, Texas, will compete against 10 of the best women’s pole vaulters in the Americas starting on Thursday, July 23, at 4:55 p.m. CT. The event will take place inside CIBC Pan Am/Parapan Am Athletics Stadium on the campus of York University with gold, silver and bronze medals up for grabs.
Recently named a finalist for the prestigious Bowerman Trophy, Payne is coming off one of the best years in collegiate pole vault history. Payne, who went up and over 15-7 (4.75m) to claim the indoor collegiate record in January, qualified for Pan Am Games after finishing third at the USATF Outdoor Championships back on June 28. The 2015 NCAA Outdoor Champion will be joined by Olympic gold medalist Jenn Suhr as the two athletes competing for the USA.
