EUGENE, Ore. -- Freshmen My'Lik Kerley and Brittany Innis represented the Stephen F. Austin track and field program well on Saturday evening at the 2015 USA Junior Championships held at the University of Oregon's Historic Hayward Field.
Kerley grabbed an automatic qualifying spot into the field at the 2015 Pan Am Junior Championships in late July by taking second in the men's 400m. He used a personal best time of 46.47 seconds to beat out some of the fastest collegiate runners under 20 in the nation.
Innis also ran a great race on Saturday, crossing third in the women's 3,000m steeplechase final with a time of 10:49.21. The mark was just a few seconds shy of her school record time -- a record she broke three times already during her freshman campaign. She will be an alternate to the Pan Am Juniors, held this year in Edmonton.
Demi Payne is the final SFA athlete left to compete at this year's USA Championships. She will battle for a spot onto the national team when the women's pole vault final begins on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. CT. Fans can watch her live at USATF.tv.
