WALNUT, Calif. -- For the second consecutive day, a Stephen F. Austin track and field record has fallen at the Mt. SAC Relays inside Hilmer Lodge Stadium in Walnut, California. Rana Ryan followed in the footsteps of teammate Brittany Innis by breaking her own record in women's 1,500-meter run at the world-class meet.
Just two weeks after setting the new SFA standard in the 1,500m at the Skechers Carl Kight Invitational, Ryan posted a new top time of 4:30.03 in a talented field of 78 runners.
On Thursday, Innis bested her 3,000-meter steeplechase school record with a time of 10:44.42 to help the Ladyjacks come away from the Mt. SAC Relays with two new program records.
Also in action on Friday was SFA distance runner Anthony Gallardo. The sophomore competed in a jam-packed 5k field at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University and posted a solid time of 14:35.15. The mark was good enough to win his section of the event out of 35 competitors.
While the distances runners return home tomorrow, the rest of the SFA track and field teams will be in action at the Michael Johnson Classic at Baylor University. Events are slated to start at 11:00 a.m.
