COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Four Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks — Jarvis Anderson, Bryson Williams, Hunter Murphy, and Nicholas Grullon — are set to compete in the NCAA West First Round this week in College Station.
These standout athletes earned their spots by finishing the season ranked among the top 50 in the West Region in their respective events. Jarvis Anderson will take on both the 400-meter hurdles and the triple jump, while Bryson Williams will join him in the triple jump. Hunter Murphy and Nicholas Grullon will compete in the high jump.
Anderson's first event, the 400-meter hurdles, is scheduled for Wednesday at 8:20 p.m. Should he advance, he'll return to the track for the semifinals on Friday. Regardless of the hurdles outcome, Anderson will be back in action Friday for the triple jump, where he'll compete alongside Williams, Murphy, and Grullon.
Head Coach Robert Hansen knows just how big of an opportunity this is for his guys, saying, "The NCAA Prelims meet is a really special place. The energy is palpable, and the talent is astronomical. We have four men who have earned the right to compete among the best of the best in the country, and we truly believe all four have a legit shot to make it to the NCAA Finals in Eugene in a few short weeks. I'm really proud of these guys and can't wait to watch them compete!"Links
