
SFA To Close Homestand, Host Two Louisiana Schools

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin women’s tennis team will close their four-match homestand, hosting Louisiana-Lafayette and Louisiana-Monroe over the weekend.
The Ladyjacks (3-2) will host the Rajun Cajuns on Saturday, before welcoming ULM to Nacogdoches on Sunday. Both matches are set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
Lafayette is coming off a 2-0 start to the season, downing Southern and Xavier (La.) by scores of 4-1 and 4-0 on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Meanwhile, the Warhawks have soared out to a 4-0 mark with wins over Alcorn State (4-0), Southern (4-0), Northwestern State (4-3) and New Orleans (4-3).
Senior Malena Gordo and freshman Vivienne Kulicke have enjoyed successful starts to the season, each posting a 3-0 record in singles play between the No. 1 and No. 3 positions for SFA, respectfully.
Juniors Dhanielly Quevedo (3-1) and Valeria Terentyeva (3-2) have also recorded three wins in singles, while the pair, along with sophomore Denise Maxl, won their last time out in the Ladyjacks’ 5-2 trounce of Texas State.
SFA’s tandem of Gordo and Quevedo own the team's best record in doubles play at 3-2.
SFA student groups and Greek life are encouraged to come take part in “$500 Cash Challenge” for the Ladyjacks. The student group with the largest turnout at the end of the regular season will win the cash prize. Minimum of 250 total attendance to be eligible.
