Complete Capital One Academic All-District Teams
NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin redshirt sophomore forward Carolina Orsi has been selected to the 2015 Capital One Academic All-District Seven Women’s Soccer First Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.
The prestigious honor, which recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, is the first for Orsi. It is her first year eligible for the award.
A native of College Station, Texas, Orsi boasts an impressive 4.0 GPA as a kinesiology major in her third year academically at SFA. In 2014, Orsi was placed on the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll as one of four Ladyjack soccer players with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
With the Ladyjacks clinching the 2015 SLC Regular Season Championship on Wednesday night, Orsi has now been a part of three consecutive league titles at SFA. After redshirting in 2013 due to injury, she has appeared in 24 games over the past two seasons with 507 minutes played during the span. In her career, she has taken four shots while putting one on goal.
With her first team selection, Orsi will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced later next month.
Orsi and the Ladyjacks will finish the league slate at rival Sam Houston State on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. A win would secure the program’s second straight undefeated regular season in conference.
