FRISCO, Texas – In an announcement made Thursday morning, a selection of 12 Southland Conference men's basketball games will be televised on the American Sports Network during the upcoming 2015-16 season, including seven during conference play. Of those 12 contests, five will feature Stephen F. Austin.
Three of the ‘Jacks non-conference tilts as well as an additional pair against Southland Conference adversaries were among the list, and with the unveiling of ASN’s coverage schedule, that brings the sum of televised games on the ‘Jacks 30-game 2015-16 slate up to 23.
Each and every one of SFA’s 14 home games through the 2015-16 campaign will be broadcast nationally on ESPN3 and the WatchESPN app as will the ‘Jacks Southland Conference road assignment at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016.
Other televised clashes include the Lumberjacks’ non-conference bouts at Baylor (Nov. 13), Northern Iowa (Nov. 17) and Arizona State (Dec. 22) which will be shown on FOX Sports Southwest Plus, ESPN2 and the Pac-12 Networks respectively.
"We are very pleased to partner with American Sports Network on a number of great men's basketball matchups this season," Southland Commissioner Tom Burnett said. "Fans will get a chance to see some key non-conference games early in the year as well as important and exciting league matchups down the stretch of the season."
The SLC’s agreement with ASN, which began this fall with football broadcasts and continues through 2016-17, represents a significant addition to the Southland's national television package with ESPN. Additionally, all Southland games on ASN will also be streamed globally via Southland.org/watch and the Southland Conference app.
ASN is composed of 161 Sinclair-owned and operated television stations nationwide that combine to reach approximately 43 million households nationwide. ASN has also developed an affiliate network of regional sports networks to increase the per-game potential distribution to more than 60 million households. The company, which launched in 2014-15, produced 250 college events in nine sports during its inaugural year.
An updated list of affiliates will be available at Southland.org/ASN prior to each broadcast.
