Baseball Suspended in Bottom of 10th

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin and McNeese State moved the second game of their three-game series up two hours to avoid Mother Nature, and had the game gone nine innings, the two teams would have done just that.
However, with the score tied 4-4 in the bottom of the 10th, the rains proved too much as the Lumberjacks and Cowboys suspended play. The game will resuming Sunday at 1 p.m. with the ‘Jacks batting in the bottom of the 10th inning. The final game of the three-game set will then begin 30 minutes following the conclusion of the suspended tilt.
McNeese State gradually built a 4-1 lead over the ‘Jacks through six innings with a solo homerun by Mackenzie Handel in the second the only run for SFA. But the Lumberjacks broke free for three runs in the bottom of the sixth, thanks to back-to-back doubles by Joseph Olson and Handel and an RBI single from Nick Ramos.
SFA had a chance to take the lead in the seventh with runners at the corners and nobody out, but a pair of strikeouts led to a fly-out to left, ending the threat. Both teams have had their chances with McNeese leaving 12 runners on base, compared to SFA’s four.
