SFA trailed for just 34 seconds in the entire game, after Wonder Boy Gary Gaskins made a free throw for the first point of the game. ATU kept it close over the first 3:36, trailing the ‘Jacks 13-9, but SFA followed with a 16-0 run over the next 5:46 to sit comfortably up 20 points (29-9).
The Wonder Boys made a push with a 13-2 run of their own to dip the lead under double figures at 31-22 with 6:11 left before the break. However, sophomore Dallas Cameron hit a 3-pointer on the next possession for the ‘Jacks to push the lead back to 12 points, as SFA outscored ATU 15-6 the remaining five-plus minutes to take a 49-28 lead into halftime.
The ‘Jacks outscored the Wonder Boys 45-29 in the second half to coast to the 94-57 final.
SFA will take a break and enjoy the holidays, before retaking the road for the first time since Tuesday, Dec. 2, to close out non-conference play. The ‘Jacks will visit Cal State Northridge on Monday, Dec. 29 in a 9 p.m. tip. The game also marks the final game for SFA in the 2014 calendar year.
