HOUSTON, Texas - For the first time in nearly two years the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks soccer team was forced to settle for a tie, playing the University of Houston to a 0-0 draw in double overtime Friday evening.
SFA (2-0-1) last tied Louisiana Tech back on Sept. 9, 2011 by a 1-1 score and had played 37 matches in between before Friday's draw. The Ladyjacks were the aggressors on this night, outshooting the Cougars 21-6 and 9-2 shots on goal.
Ladyjacks' goalkeeper Morgan Glick (1-0-1) played the entire 120 minutes and was forced to make just two saves. Junior forward Chelsea Raymond led all players with eight shot attempts, six of which were on goal, followed by three shots by senior Melissa Gaudet.
SFA will now have one day of recovery time before hosting Arizona State Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The Sun Devils (1-1-0) fell to No. 19 Texas A&M Friday evening in College Station and will be playing the Ladyjacks for the first time ever.
