NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Heading into the Southland Conference Tournament this weekend the conference office announced the 2013 All-Southland Conference Volleyball Team and two Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks have been recognized among the top players in their league.
Junior right side hitter Jill Ivy was named to the second team to mark her second straight year on the all-conference team. Ivy led the Ladyjacks offensively with 3.07 kills per set while hitting for a .220 clip. Ivy posted 15 matches with 10 or more kills and reached 20 kills twice during the season. Ivy was a 2012 first team selection by the conference.
Sophomore libero O.J. Olson also was recognized by the conference as a second team member after having one of the best seasons in school history defensively. Olson tallied 629 digs on the year, which ranks second in SFA history. She closed the season with a 43-dig performance in a 3-1 loss to Northwestern State. That mark is the most in school history for a four-set match and ranks 18th in NCAA history. Olson’s average of 5.11 digs per set ranks fourth in school history.
The All-Southland Conference Team is voted on by the league’s coaches and sports information directors and is composed of 12 members on the first team and six on the second team.
The conference tournament begins Friday, and the Ladyjacks will face regular season champion Central Arkansas in the first round at 4 p.m. in Corpus Christi.
