
GAME NOTES: vs. Houston Baptist/at Sam Houston State

This Week: SFA will look to continue their winning ways this weekend when they play two more Southland Conference matches, beginning with Houston Baptist on Friday, Oct. 4 in Nacogdoches, followed with a road trip to Huntsville to face Sam Houston State on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 1 p.m.
Game 11- vs. Houston Baptist (Scouting Report): The Ladyajcks are 3-0-0 all-time against the Huskies and have defeated HBU in each of the past three seasons by a combined score of 8-1. This will mark the first meeting between the two teams in Nacogdoches since 2011. HBU broke a string of four consecutive matches without a win with a 1-0 overtime victory at Lamar last week. HBU has scored just five goals all season but have allowed only 10.
Game 12: at Sam Houston State (Scouting Report): SFA holds a 10-2-0 all-time mark against the rival Bearkats having won two straight and six of the last seven meetings. SHSU has won two in a row entering play this weekend.
RPI RISE: The Ladyjacks come in at No. 68 in the latest RPI rankings, which is a significant rise from No. 107 at this same point last season.
Best Start In School History: With the win against Lamar, the Ladyjacks tied their best 10-game start in school history (7-2-1). SFA matched the previous best mark set by the 2003 and 2011 squads.
Stingy Defense: The Ladyjacks have already recorded seven shutouts this season and have a shutout percentage of 0.700, which ranks 7th in the nation. SFA also has a superb goals against average of just 0.566, which is good enough for 26th in the country.
#SouthlandStrong: The Ladyjacks have won 21 of their last 22 regular season Southland Conference matches dating back to the 2010 season and have gone a combined 19-1-0 the past two-plus seasons.
A New Era is Born: On Jan. 28, 2013, former Texas A&M assistant Wally Crittenden was named the eighth Stephen F. Austin head soccer coach in school history. Crittenden replaces Tony Amato who stepped down last December to become the head coach at the University of Arizona. Crittenden has spent the past three seasons in College Station assisting a nationally ranked Texas A&M team that has recorded a combined 52-16-6 (.743) record.
Picked To Click: Once again the Ladyjacks were picked to win the 2013 Southland Conference regular-season championship in polls conducted by the league's coaches and sports information directors. It marks the third consecutive year the Ladyjacks have been selected to finish first in the Southland in either one of the two polls. SFA received 11 first-place votes in both the coaches and SID's polls to earn a total of 143 points in each poll.
Title Town: The SFA women's soccer program has brought an unprecedented seven Southland Conference regular-season championships back to Nacogdoches. That total is nearly half of the 15 possible regular-season titles in SLC Soccer history.
