SENIOR NIGHT: The Ladyjacks will honor its senior class of Sabrina Burns and Madison Hanlan on Tuesday before its match vs the Islanders. The pair has each earned academic all-district honors twice with Burns in the all-time top 10 in blocks and Hanlan second all-time at SFA in digs.
THE RISTER MOVES: SFA shook things up at the setter spot on Wednesday vs North Texas, starting junior Amanda Rister. The moved worked as Rister doled out 28 assists and picked up 10 digs for her first career double-double, but more importantly led the Ladyjacks to a 3-0 win over the Mean Green in the final non-conference match of the season.
UGLY WIN: In SFA’s 3-0 win over the Mean Green on Wednesday, the Ladyjacks managed to hit just .095 as a team. That was the fifth time this season SFA has hit under .100 in a match, but the first time it has come out with a victory despite it. In fact, it was just the second time since 2006 that the Ladyjacks have won a match when hitting less than .100, the last coming on Oct. 20, 2010 when they beat Sam Houston despite .098 for the match.
HANLAN RECORD: Madison Hanlan had a career afternoon last week at Nicholls, totaling 47 digs against the Colonels, a new SFA school record. That mark is six better than former all-America libero Stephanie Figgers' record of 41 set in 2006, and also the most digs by any Southland Conference player since McNeese's Jessica Strama had 62 in 2006. In addition, it is also the second-most digs by any player in the country this season according to the AVCA.
WEEKLY DOMINATION: With Madison Hanlan's latest player of the week award it gives SFA six weekly honors from teh conference, the most by any league institution this season. Hanlan and freshman Cara Leslie each have two weekly honors this year, while Jill Ivy and Sabrina Burns each have one as well.
NOT YOUR AVERAGE JILL: Jill Ivy had a career-high 22 kills in a five-set win over Nicholls. It was the second time this year and third time in her career the sophomore has had at least 20 kills in a match, while the 22 vs Nicholls was the most by any Ladyjack since 2006.
