OLD SONGS OF THE SOUTHLAND: Wednesday's match-up will be a battle between two former league foes with the Mean Green looking to pick up where they left off in Shelton Gym. North Texas made sure its exit from the SLC was with a bang, winning the 1995 Southland Conference Tournament at Shelton Gym over SFA in what is still its last NCAA Tournament appearance. UNT has made four trips to Nacogdoches since 1995, but each of those matches occurred in Wiliam R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks are 6-3 all-time at home vs the Mean Green.
HANLAN RECORD: Madison Hanlan had a career afternoon on Saturday at Nicholls, totaling 47 digs against the Colonels, a new SFA school record. That mark is six better than former all-America libero Stephanie Figgers' record of 41 set in 2006, and also the most digs by any Southland Conference player since McNeese's Jessica Strama had 62 in 2006. In addition, it is also the second-most digs by any player in the country this season according to the latest statistic report from the AVCA. All of that, along with a solid 25 digs vs Southeastern helped garner Hanlan her second conference defensive player of the week honor on Monday.
WEEKLY DOMINATION: With Hanlan's latest player of the week award it gives SFA six weekly honors from teh conference, the most by any league institution this season. Hanlan and freshman Cara Leslie each have two weekly honors this year, while Jill Ivy and Sabrina Burns each have one as well.
NOT YOUR AVERAGE JILL: Jill Ivy had another breakout match on Saturday at Nicholls, sending home a career-high 22 kills in a five-set win over the Colonels. It was the second time this year and third time in her career the sophomore has had at least 20 kills in a match, while the 22 vs Nicholls was the most by any Ladyjack since 2006.
