Cross Country To Host Pre-Conference Meet On Monday

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin cross country team will be in action on Monday morning as part of the Southland Conference Preconference Meet at Piney Woods Country Club, an event that will be the prelude to next month's SLC Championships, also to be held at Piney Woods CC.
Monday's meet will feature nine teams, seven of which are from the SLC. In all, nearly 150 runners will take part in the event, including runners from Central Arkansas, ULM, Lon Morris College, Northwestern State, Sam Houston State, Texas State and UTSA in addition to SFA.
The women's 6,000-meter race is slated to open the competition at 9:00 a.m., followed by the men's 8,000-meter race at 9:45 a.m.
The meet will serve as the first true meet of the season for both the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks, after the teams took part in a head-to-head relay competition with Lon Morris in the Lumberjack Opener and then two weeks ago took part in the Rice Invitational, which ran at a shorter distance than SFA will see on Monday.
SFA will have just one more competition - at the Crimson Tide Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Oct. 15 - before hosting the SLC Championships on Oct. 31.
