SLC Tournament Quick Hitters:
• Wednesday's 3-2 win over Lamar in the first round of the Southland Conference Tournament is the first win in tournament play for the Lumberjacks since a 2007 win over McNeese State. It was SFA's first-ever win on the opening day of the tournament.
• The Lumberjacks were the only higher-seeded team to win on Tuesday in the first round. No. 6 UTSA upset No. 3 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in 11 innings, No. 5 Sam Houston run-ruled No. 4 Southeastern Louisiana, and No. 8 Nicholls pulled an upset shut out of top-seeded Texas State in the other three games of the day.
• SFA comes into this year's tournament as the No. 2 overall seed, the highest seed the program has ever managed to receive.
• David Jeans is the only Lumberjack to ever earn all-tournament honors, doing so in the 2007 tournament. Jeans went 5-for-5 in SFA's second-round win over McNeese State in one of the greatest individual performances in SFA baseball's history.
• SFA is looking to become the first No. 2 seed to win the SLC Tournament. In fact, the highest seed to win the tournament since 2005 has twice occurred with No. 4 seeds winning the event.
• Since the league went back to playing a conference tournament in 1993, high seeds have not fared well. Only once - Lamar in 2004 - has the regular season champion won the tournament, while a No. 2 seed has never taken they tourney title. The No. 3 and No. 4 seed have each won six titles since 1993, while Sam Houston State was the lowest to ever do it when the Bearkats won last year's tournament as a No. 7 seed.
